Wiffleball Update

College Park, MD – Inside the Armory Gym, 9 teams representing various APA student organizations and totaling more than 200 students, participated in the 5th Annual AASU Charity Wiffle-ball Tournament. Started by of our very own APAAN board member, Brian Lau, the tournament has grown exponentially over the past 5 years – bringing together students and alumni, community charities and the UMD campus. For the 3rd year, the older, but more experienced 10th team of APAANers took on the students.

This year the APAAN team was the Yellow INCREDIBLES! Using our super strength, lightning speed and bigger pockets we raised $545 for the chosen charity, Asian American LEAD, and made our way to the semi-finals of the tournament. Sadly, the battle was lost there, but all was not lost. Our team bonded with each other and forged new relations with new alumni to come. Our efforts contributed to an overall $3500+ donation to a local non-profit (www.aalead.org), which helps struggling Asian American children and families in the DC area.
